You Are Not Immature

If you are cheesy

if you marry young

if you are a passionate lover

if you jump into a dance in a crowd

if you stay with your parents as an adult

if you spend your time playing with kids

if you are fascinated by the strangest things

if you spend money on what you love doing

You are an original, a rarity among people who suppress their true selves for the sake of others.

Empath

Some people are capable of smoothly handling anything that comes in their way. they are like a shock absorbers of human emotions and situations. they may stay silent, cry or even hold their pent up anger for days, weeks or even months. they can be confused souls. they love peace. they might have their own devils to fight. But at the end of the day, they absorb the negative energy of a person in the hope that they can bring in some positivity. They are empaths.

The Last One

Do you remember your first love?

the first time you held hands with a loved one?

the first date. the first kiss? we hate or love the person who broke our heart. the time when we felt guilty for breaking someone’s heart.

you carry the weight of the person who shattered you, and yet they shape your love life.

being first and the firsts have always been important. the firsts don’t matter anymore, the last one does. the lasting one.

The Lockdown Celebrators

Disclaimer: A work of satire

There are three types of people celebrating the lockdown at the moment – newly married couples, introverts and gamers. How do they they celebrate this once in 100-years opportunity:

Newly Married Couples

The first set of people are clueless about social distancing. They are stuck together. Their Instagram timeline stands testimony. Neighbours are complaining that they hear screams of Come Corona! Come Corona! A newly married couple were informed they were supposed to scream Go Corona! Go Corona! They are competing to replicate at a faster rate than the virus. Hopefully, we win.

Introverts

These people are yet to figure out the hullabaloo about the lockdown period. They have an in-depth understanding of the pandemic, but they don’t want to talk about it. Panic attacks are now common, with entry of loud humans, and they wonder if they belong to the zoo. They have started taking online masterclasses on ‘How to survive the Coronavirus-induced apocalypse’. Still, #IntrovertStruggles

Gamers

They feel they are the safest of the three. A sanitizer is the new addition to their table, for cleaning keyboard and mouse. They seem to be intellectual for split second when they speak of all-round protection from viruses, but for PCs. They also starting to find their games boring, and they wonder if the zombies have come to the streets.

P.S: Stay at home and Stay Safe. Lets hope for the best.

Warmth

We had become really close friends in a span of three months. We met and spoke for hours, everyday. She didn’t want me to go for the trip. I was her only companion at that point of time. She was sad, but she knew I had to go. I felt bad leaving her, and even a little scared about leaving her alone in the city. The sky was cloudy, and it was about to rain.

The night had just started. It was around 7.15 p.m. There was a light drizzle which tranisition to heavy rain. We were the kind of people who loved to feel the rain, no matter how heavy it was. Yet I wasn’t ready to get wet that night. I parked the bike on the side of the road. A few other vehicles were also parked and people were taking shelter under a tree. There was a small gap with a visible gate in front of the house. We parked ourselves over there.

There was a house behind the tree which was locked and I rested my back on the gate while she stood in front of me, face to face. There were people beside us. She did glance once in a while at the rain but most of the time, we stood there talking while vehicles moved across the road in the rain.

After a while, when the rain got heavier, she laid her head on my chest and said, ‘Its so warm.’ I smiled and I looked at her. I wrapped my arms around her head and held her. I never let her go. About 10-15 minutes later, I felt her weight of her body on me. I knew she was slowly dozing off.

She forgotten the rain, the chaos of the traffic. She went into deep sleep state, all the while when she was standing.

As the rains returned to a light drizzle. I had no other option but to wake her up. If not for the trip, i would have stood there, relishing this moment. She woke up like a puppy waking up from slumber, her eyes as adorable as ever. She later said she felt so comfortable in my body heat that she just dozed off. I had never seen anything as cute as that. The sight and feel of her, resting on my body.

She felt comfortable, I felt love.

Fuljar Soda: A Drink in Action

As the holy month of Ramzan drew to a close, there was something else that was waiting to safely erupt into the open, literally – The humble Fuljar soda. Served in a long jar, complete with a shot glass containing a green concoction, Fuljar is the talking point across the country (India).

Claimed to have origins from Kerala, no one knows who created the Fuljar (pronounced as ‘full jar’) soda nor does anyone know how the frothy drink rose to overnight stardom. One possibility of the drink’s popularity can be attributed to the dramatized TikTok videos of youngsters drinking Fuljar soda.

What made the drink popular?

We, human beings are attracted to something out of the ordinary. This drink not a boring soda with a pinch of salt or squeezed lime. It reminds me of an overflowing soda like a volcano that was created for a chemistry project and it is a food that can be consumed while it is in action. Interesting enough?

Though there are variations in the color of the drink, the design of the drink is quite similar to the Jägerbomb, where a shot of Jägermeister is dropped into a tall glass of beer or red bull. Interestingly, the origins of the Jägerbomb and Fuljar soda are elusive.

What goes into the Fuljar soda?

The concoction in the shot glass is made up of mint, green chilli, ginger, salt or sugar, depending on the variant. Basil seeds, an ingredient in Kulikki Sarbath, another popular drink in Kerala, are also added to Fuljar soda to make it more interesting to the palate. According to the Fuljar soda drinkers, the drink should be chugged in one go, and then our senses are taken on a sensory ride of flavors.

Where can you get Fuljar soda?

With the drink turning into an overnight sensation, it is widely available at roadside eateries as well as bigger establishments. One has to go to the makeshift shops and cool bars in the smaller towns of Malappuram, to get an authentic taste of the Fuljar soda, where youngsters queue up for their evening fill. The drink has now garnered popularity in the districts of Kannur and Kochi, and is slowly catching up in establishments across the country.
